Bring the flavours of India and Asia to your home with Chief Brand's new HAKKA SEASONING. This Hakka Chicken recipe is perfect when you want to avoid take-out. It's also a much healthier version than those you get at restaurants - no deep frying of the chicken, and most importantly, NO MSG!
Ingredients:
7 Boneless Chicken Thighs, skinned
1 tsp Chief Brand Salt
1/2 tsp Chief Brand Black Pepper
1 tbsp Chief Brand Hakka Spice Blend
3 tbsp Corn Starch
2 Onions, chopped
5 cloves Garlic, thinly sliced
1 Green Sweet Pepper, chopped
1/2 cup Chives, chopped
3/4 cup Water
3 tbsp Chief Brand Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Ketchup
Vegetable Oil, as needed
Instructions:
- Wash the chicken pieces and cut them into bite-sized chunks.
- Season with salt, pepper, Hakka Spice blend and corn starch. Let marinate for 5 mins.
- Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a frying pan. Sauté the onions, garlic, and sweet peppers for 1 minute until fragrant, then remove these aromatics from the pan and place in a small bowl.
- To the hot pan, add 3 Tbsp of oil. When heated, add the chicken chunks in the pan and cook till it turns golden brown. Once the chicken turns brown, add the onion and aromatics back into the chicken and mix well. Add the chives.
- Meanwhile in a small bowl, mix the water, soy sauce and tomato ketchup then gently pour in the pan. Mix chicken with the sauce and bring it to a boil. Once the gravy thickens, take the pan off the flame. Chief Brand Hakka Chicken is ready to eat. Serve it hot with steamed rice or have it on its own.
